  1. I used to work at Columbia Generating Station. It was a great place to work, and the only reason I left was to move closer to my hometown. The people there made it feel like home, the workforce was skilled and competent, the plant was maintained and operated at world class levels, and it provides at-cost power to the BPA who in turn can supply that power to various PUDs. Columbia provides highly reliable, cost effective, clean energy around the clock and heavily complements the renewable energy portfolio in the pacific northwest. Columbia has load followed the renewable and hydro power profile, providing clear proof that it is possible to effectively support renewables and nuclear on the same power grid in the US, while still maintaining high reliability and low costs.

    That’s my soap-box. Glad to see all the PR information about the plant and always good having another blogger to discuss the issues.
