Atomic Show 91 – Alexandra Prokopenko, blogger, journalist, Chernobyl survivor, atomic energy thinker
On Atomic Show #091 I took advantage of the technology provided by Skype to record a cross ocean chat with Alexandra Prokopenko, the blogger behind Atom Watch. Alexandra was in Kiev celebrating the Orthodox Easter and agreed to talk to me about her atomic fact seeking.
Alexandra was born in Belarus about 4 years before the Chernobyl accident. She is a worldly journalist who speaks a half a dozen languages, has worked in print, radio and television, has a master’s degree, and is currently studying for her PhD. Her master’s thesis was an investigation of the three different views of the Chernobyl accident provided by the three different media outlets in Belarus.
We had a fascinating conversation – at least on her side. Please go have a listen and also take the time to check out what Alexandra and her small team are doing at Atom Watch. It is one of the few places where a mono language person like me can find out what is happening in the nuclear world in the Former Soviet Union and other less “western” countries.
