AREVA set for a hiring spree
The Lynchburg (VA) News and Advance published a story by Bethany Fuller on 5 November 2005 titled “Areva set for a hiring spree.” Areva, already one of the largest employers in central Virginia, will be adding 130 new postions. The people hired for these positions will be doing engineering, design and licensing work. As reported in an early issue of Atomic Insights Blog, Areva has recently formed a partnership called Unistar with Constellation Energy and Bechtel.
These new engineering and design postions are apparently going to be working on adapting the design for the European Pressurized Reactor (EPR) for US standards (the US name for the design is US Evolutionary Pressurized Reactor – US EPR) in preparation for a design license application. One EPR is currently under construction in Finland, and a second one is in the planning process in France.
