Atomic energy technology, politics, and perceptions from a nuclear energy insider who served as a US nuclear submarine engineer officer

Washington Times review of Jeff Goodell's "Big Coal: The Dirty Secret Behind America's Energy Future"

August 14, 2006 By Rod Adams

The Washington Times is a conservative paper that many DC workers purchase to provide “balance” to their perception that the Washington Post is full of liberal bias. I give that to you as a preface before mentioning that the paper has published a review of Jeff Goodell’s new book titled “Big Coal: The Dirty Secret Behind America’s Energy Future”.

After reading the review, I plan to read the book. It sounds like the author has an entering point of view that is quite a bit different from that of the reviewer, William T. Smith of McLean, VA. Mr. Smith does admit that Goodell did a lot of documentary research that might be useful in understanding and responding to energy supply debates.
