Atomic energy technology, politics, and perceptions from a nuclear energy insider who served as a US nuclear submarine engineer officer

Scots discuss energy and independence

May 22, 2007 By Rod Adams

The Scottish National Party (SNP) leader, Alex Salmond, has made it clear that his party does not support the idea of building any new nuclear power stations in Scotland. British Energy has stated that this position, along with some physical and economic considerations, makes it unlikely that there will be any new projects initiated as the currently existing nuclear plants (Tourness and Hunterston B) in Scotland reach their projected end of life.

You can find an interesting and growing discussion about this political and economic decision in the comments section of an article published by The Scotsman on May 21, 2007 titled Salmond rules out nuclear plants.
