Point Lepreau supplies approximately one third of the electricity in Canada’s New Brunswick province. It was the first CANDU-6 to be licensed and begin commercial operations. It is due for an overhaul, which is a financially challenging event for a company that only owns one nuclear plant. However, the citizens that met to talk about it dislike the idea of replacing it with coal fired power generation.
