Atomic energy technology, politics, and perceptions from a nuclear energy insider who served as a US nuclear submarine engineer officer

Nigerian Nuclear Program

July 7, 2005 By Rod Adams

Nigeria is an interesting case of an oil rich but useful energy poor country. It is a major crude oil exporter, but its citizens get by with an average of about 8 watts of electricity, which is about 1/5 of what the light above my computer uses.

Apparently, some of the leaders of the country have decided to take some steps toward developing nuclear power plants. http://allafrica.com/stories/200507060266.html

I wish them the best of luck. I hope that some of the marketing people from PBMR (Pty.) LTD make every effort to visit their continental neighbor.
