NBC has gone green
While indulging in my football habit, I learned that the NBC network – owned by GE – has begun a “Green is Universal” campaign. There is apparently a relationship between this marketing effort and GE’s Ecomagination.
The first silly part of this campaign is for the guys in the studio in New York to turn their lights off while broadcasting. Don’t worry about not being able to see the broadcasters – there are plenty of big screen TVs in the studio to provide background lighting.
Here is a math problem for you – the broadcasters said that if everyone watching the game would turn off lights in a single room in their house for the duration of the game, America would save enough energy to power 2,000 homes for a year. Make some reasonable assumptions and see if you agree. Answer will be posted tomorrow.
Remember, remember the 5th of November.
