Atomic energy technology, politics, and perceptions from a nuclear energy insider who served as a US nuclear submarine engineer officer

Has the fossil fuel industry worked to slow nuclear power development?

September 3, 2008 By Rod Adams

After pointing to the clear thinking on the natural progression of energy technology provided on Chicago Boyz, I have continued to participate in an interesting conversation thread tied to Shannon Love’s post titled Fantasy Energy.

Shannon’s position is that the only real opposition to nuclear power developments has been the technology fearing leftists who vocally oppose nuclear power and make that a clear part of their public communications. My position is that the vocal opposition has been greatly assisted by the understandable efforts by fossil fossil fuel interests to protect their market share by doing all they can to slow the growth of a competitive power source with enormous technical advantages.

I would be interested in hearing your feedback on the quality of the argument and any suggestions that you might have for improving my debating skills.
