Atomic energy technology, politics, and perceptions from a nuclear energy insider who served as a US nuclear submarine engineer officer

CSPAN StudentCam Grand Prize Winners – They’ve Got the Power!

April 30, 2010 By Rod Adams

A couple of days ago, I shared a video titled I’ve Got the Power that was produced by three middle school students from Racine Wisconsin. That video was C-Span’s grand prize winner in its annual studentcam contest. It beat out more than 1000 competitive submissions, including those submitted in the high school category.

Here is a video that includes the prize announcement and an interview with the three young ladies – Madison Richards, Samantha Noll, and Lauren Nixon – who created the documentary. It warmed my heart to watch it this morning and made me proud to be an American and a nuke. As the father of accomplished daughters who are now off on their own, watching those young ladies smiling with a bit of embarrassed pride in having done something worthwhile.

I hope this makes your day just a bit better than it would otherwise be.

NEI should run with this. Refreshing to see students put together an excellent piece like this.
