Atomic energy technology, politics, and perceptions from a nuclear energy insider who served as a US nuclear submarine engineer officer

At least one Amarillo resident does not support Amarillo Power

August 13, 2006 By Rod Adams

Grace Mojtabai has written a letter to the editor of the Amarillo Globe News titled Just hold on a minute with the nuclear reactor that mentions the biggest reservation that I have about the project – typical light water reactors with steam plant secondary systems use a lot of water for cooling.

Shane Brown, my co-host on The Atomic Show expressed that concern during our chat last week. You can find the show notes and access the audio at The Atomic Show #025 – Amarillo Power plans. You will find an on-line player and a link to the MP3 file.

There might be mitigating measures available, but this issue certainly needs some attention during the early discussion and planning phases.
