Atomic energy technology, politics, and perceptions from a nuclear energy insider who served as a US nuclear submarine engineer officer

Another view of the Westinghouse sale to China

June 7, 2007 By Rod Adams

I ran across another commentary on the sale of Westinghouse AP-1000 reactors to China at humanevents.com in the form of an article by Timothy P. Carney titled Administration Poised to Subsidize China’s Nuclear Industry. (Amusingly enough, the banner for Human Events.com includes a subtitle “Leading the conservative movement since 1944”. I know that includes the print version, but it is funny to think of a “dot com” as something that has been around for more than 60 years.)

As regular readers of Atomic Insights know, I do not consider myself a Conservative and almost reflexively decided not to bother reading the article once I noticed the source and the advertisements on the site. (The first time I visited, the banner ad was for Ann Coulter’s Godless: The Church of Liberalism. That is someone that I almost always ignore.) However, the article is worth reading and thinking about if just to obtain a view from a different perspective.
