Atomic energy technology, politics, and perceptions from a nuclear energy insider who served as a US nuclear submarine engineer officer

Brian Wilson, former UK energy minister, says "the debate has moved on"

January 13, 2008 By Rod Adams

A new friend who has read Atomic Insights from China sent me a link to a commentary titled The generation game: Those hostile to nuclear power, like Peter Tatchell, are engaging in an unconvincing crusade from another age: the debate has moved on. Here is a quote that I really like from the commentary:

It has also entered the vocabulary of this debate that “environmentalists” are opposed to retaining a nuclear component in our energy mix. That is another generalisation at odds with the truth. Exceptionally eminent figures in the environmental movement such as James Lovelock have long since recognised that, whatever the challenges of nuclear power, they are as nothing compared to those of global warming.

Unfortunately, my friend in China will probably never see this blog post – he told me that Atomic Insights Blog is blocked where he lives. I find it interesting that the comment free, old fashioned Atomic Insights web site is available, but the interactive blog is not. Hmmm.
