Atomic Insights

Atomic energy technology, politics, and perceptions from a nuclear energy insider who served as a US nuclear submarine engineer officer

Useful new nuclear information source: Platts Insight – Nuclear Energy

February 24, 2008 By Rod Adams

Platts – a McGraw-Hill company – is one of the most active and reliable providers of energy industry focused conferences and information publications. As an indicator of the momentum that is building for the Nuclear Renaissance, Platts has started a new publication titled Platts Insight – Nuclear Energy. Here is a quote from the publisher’s note introducing the first issue of the publication:

The increasing global demand for clean electricity is driving the industry to take a closer look at the long-term benefits and challenges of building nuclear power plants. We are pleased to bring you perspectives from experts in the US and around the world who discuss uranium supply, advances in design, engineering and construction, and regulatory challenges of building new reactors. Also included in this issue is a fresh look at transmission capacity planning to support nuclear’s growth and a refresher on lessons learned from the first nuclear generation.

The first issue includes articles about contracting for a new nuclear plant, transmission challenges, uranium supplies, lessons learned from the First Atomic Age, and the advanced EPR deployment in the US.

I will be a regular reader.
