Atomic Show 42 – Westinghouse-China, US-India, Fresno Nuclear Group
On show 42, Shane Brown and I talk about some of the new business developments in the nuclear industry. There are large and growing opportunities for employment and the two recent deals signed between US organizations and potentially huge customers – China and India – are just two of the topics that we decided were worth talking about.
Both China and India currently burn a tremendous quantity of coal in their electricity supply systems and both have already made significant investments in nuclear energy development. However, there are still some areas where they need to purchase some assistance to take them to the “next level” of atomic development.
We also spent some time talking about how some local businessmen in Fresno, California are challenging conventional wisdom by proposing to build a new nuclear power plant in a US state that has not be terribly friendly toward new nuclear plant construction. Even in the land of the fruits and nuts, it seems that there are people that can do math and realize that nuclear power is a pretty decent alternative to high cost electricity produced by natural gas.
