Another "In MY Backyard" resolution
There sure are a lot of “nobodies” in this world. Though the anti-nuclear industry still continues to claim that “nobody” wants a nuclear plant in their backyard, a number of communities have taken action to state loudly and clearly that they are very interested in having a new plant built in their area.
The most recent community to take this action is the locality near the never completed Bellefonte Nuclear Power Plant, which is located in Scottsboro, Alabama. Both the Scottsboro City Council and the Jackson County Commission have passed resolutions supporting the Tennessee Valley Authority – which owns the Bellefonte site – and NuStart Energy in their efforts to build a new nuclear power plant at the site. Presumably, those votes reflect the will of the people nearest the proposed plant.
