Atomic energy technology, politics, and perceptions from a nuclear energy insider who served as a US nuclear submarine engineer officer

Winner of the Annual NA-YGN Poster Contest

May 18, 2009 By Rod Adams

I visited NA-YGN’s web site this morning to catch up on some of their recent and near future activities. I followed a link to the Spring 2009 issue of Go Nuke. I could not help chuckling at the front page of the publication; it was a display of the top three posters from the organization’s annual poster contest. (Personal history note: one of my Aunts – a warm hearted southern lady – used to think it was cute to call me Roddy. At about age 7, I gave up trying to tell her that my name was either Rod or Rodney. I am not sure that anyone other than my mother and Aunt Pat knows that.)

Unfortunately, unlike the friendly Roddy Nuclear, Atomic Rod – my “super hero” alter ego – has not succeeded in producing any power that keeps people’s lights on. I’ll keep trying; maybe someday an Adams Engine will power a light bulb or two.
